Hello everyone! I believe that I owe you some recipes of mine, but right now I want to inform you all of what has been going on.

Currently I have been having severe abdominal pains near my right side for almost a month now. I went into the doctors to get it checked out and she orders me to go in for an internal and external ultrasound. That wasn’t that much fun, let me tell you that, due to the fact that I had to drink a LOT of water and then I had to hold it.

After the results came back from the ultra sound the revealed that I had some sort of tumor or cyst in my right ovarian area. My doctor gave me pain pills and said if it doesn’t get better within a month to come back. It got worse.

Eventually it got bad enough that we called and scheduled for an MRI which I just had done recently. That went well, I got to listen to classical music and the ladies who were doing my tests were very sweet. I do however have a little bruise on my arm where I had to get the contrast IV.

Today I got my results from the MRI back. I have MORE than one cyst in both my left and right ovaries. I go in today to see if there is anything that can be done. Two of them are about the size of a walnut still in its shell.

I promise that I will post some of my recipes soon!

Take care!

Delicious Egg & Bacon Bites

This was something I recently just made up for Aaron the other day for the first time. I can honestly say that it was quite delicious, simple to make and everyone loved it!

If you’re looking for a quick, cheap and easy (but filling and creamy) breakfast idea then this is for you.

Ingredients (I added the servings for 3 bagels and 6 bagels):

  • 6 – 8 hard boiled eggs. (I used 8 when I made it)
  • 1-2 cups grated cheddar (You can use pretty much any cheese you want)
  • 1 1/2 – 1 cup Mayo
  • 1 package of bacon
  • 1/2 tablespoon Dijon mustard (I used a little more for a slight kick)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 English muffins cut in half or the entire bag (I used the entire bag of 6)

Preparation:

  • Boil the eggs if you haven’t already done so. Once finished, peel and then cut up into medium-small cubes. Yoke and all.
  • Fry bacon up nice and crispy but not burnt!
  • Put all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl.
  • Fold the mixture gently until everything is about evenly spread.
  • Add the mixture to the English muffin halves. (I didn’t skimp on the toppings since there was plenty to go around).
  • Broil for about 5 minutes or until they being to bubbly and lightly brown.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I did! You can also add a little splash of hot sauce on the top of yours once you’re done for that extra kick.

Le Origami

Well last Tuesday was Valentine’s day and I wanted to do something special for Aaron and my Grandmother. I had planned on making a bouquet of origami roses but all of the patterns I found where far too difficult to make and I ended up just getting frustrated.
Eventually I remembered that I knew how to make lilies so I made a bouquet of lilies. (See picture below).

If you would like to make the origami lilies you can find a simple and easy pattern here: http://www.origami-instructions.com/origami-flowers.html

To make the bouquet you will need:

  • Paper Clips
  • Sticks (I happened to have sticks with holes in the center of them, if you don’t have anything like that you can drill holes into the center)
  • Origami paper (NOT regular paper) – Double sided color or one sided doesn’t matter.
  • Hot Glue Gun

After you make the origami flowers, simply cut a little bit off of the bottom and unbend a paper clip. You will need to straighten the longest side out as straight as possible and then ‘fold’ the short side to make a little loop. (See picture A below).
After you have done that, put the paper clip into the stick. Make sure you put the longest side in. After that, hot glue around the base of the paper clip where it attaches to the stick.

How you should have your paper clip folded

Wait a few moments for the glue to dry and then stick the short side of the paper clip into the base of the flower (careful not to tear the entire bottom of the flower to bits!) Then hot glue the base of the flower where it touches the stick. Make sure you leave just a little room and don’t smash the base down – this part is essential because you might want to bend the flowers later to arrange the bouquet.
If your flower is still twirling around the paperclip hot glue the inside a little bit. Don’t stick your hand down into the flower, or you could smash it, just drip the hot glue down the center.

Now, do this for all of your flowers and then arrange the sticks together how you think it looks best. Hot glue the sticks together, making sure not to move them around too much or else you could lose where you wanted it. Let it cool and then wa-la! Instant cute bouquet of lilies! You can do this with almost any origami flowers.

Hope you enjoy this little fun project you can do with your kids or by yourself! They make a great, silly gift. And remember, if your lilies don’t turn out perfect don’t worry! Practice makes perfect and you’ll get better with each lily.

Le Engagement

Hello, hello everyone! Sorry for the lack of updates lately I have been really busy with school work and my social life.

In case you haven’t noticed the title by now I am indeed engaged. (You can see a picture of my ring below).
I am engaged to an amazing man who makes me feel like I’m the only person in the world. So, like a Queen. (How every woman should be treated and then some). The actual wedding itself will not be happening for a VERY long time, though. There is still much that we both wish to do first before moving on to that step. Like both of us having jobs, me being done with my schooling and finding an apartment.
All in good time, we’re in no rush to get on to those steps yet. We’re just taking it one day at a time. :)

I’ve always wondered why women cry when they get proposed to… and then I started crying when I was proposed to. Ha, ha! Tears of joy and excitement and PHEW! those butterflies in the tummy!

Until next time, world!

Le Busy

Sorry for the lack of updates on my website! I’ve been really busy working on a new comic book that I decided to do (of which I will be posting concept character art later)!

Sadly, I won’t be posting anything until later next week hopefully. Also, I’ll be FINALLY getting a tablet! Which I am proud to say I am paying for myself. $40 for a long awaited, well wanted tablet! I’m so excited.

That is all the updates I have at the moment!

Check back next week for a recipe or my art!

Le Pillow

Recently I thinking to myself gee, I sure wish I had a fluffy pillow!
And so it was. I remembered that I had some excess blue fluffy material in my closet and I just happened to have an old pillow I never used anymore that I could recycle the fluff to put into this new pillow!

I’m not sure on the material I used. Nor am I sure of the dimensions of the pillow (too lazy to check at the moment), but it is almost a perfect square (by eye of course)!

However, despite my wanting of a new fluffy pillow, I did not make this for myself. No, in fact I made this for my boyfriend! He had seen the material two months ago when I was cleaning out my closet and he mentioned that it would make a great pillow. So I made him one for Christmas. Only took about two hours to sew and stuff!

Le Aunt

Hello everyone. This post is not a recipe nor is it art. In fact this post will be about someone very dear to my heart. My Aunt.

My Aunt is the most inspirational person I know and has touched the lives of not only myself but hundreds of others. Whether it be in food photography, gaming or just simply being kind and sweet, she has touched them.
This beautiful woman is strong despite recently being diagnosed with cancer. She takes each day step by step and no matter what has been thrown at her she still manages to keep a positive outlook on life and put others before her.

Personally feeling helpless with having to stand on the sidelines and just hope for the best, I decided to support her in a way that not many people would even do. I shaved ALL of my hair off to signify what many cancer patients go through. And although my Aunt hasn’t lost her hair, it is my way of personally showing how I am supporting her through this no matter what.

Many woman lose their hair during cancer treatment and this makes them feel not beautiful anymore. Unlike me, they didn’t get the chance to choose to lose their hair.

I love you, Aunt Kelly, and just know that I am supporting you. :)

Below are pictures of my hair and my wonderful Aunt.

Le crepe

This is one of my favourite and simple crepe recipes with a little cinnamon twist of my own!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup All-purpose Flour
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1/4 tsp. Salt
  • 2 tbsp. Melted Butter
  • 1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon (More or less if desired)

Directions:

  • Whisk together the flour and the eggs until there are no visible lumps
  • Gradually add the milk and water into the mix
  • Then add the salt, butter and cinnamon. Mix until smooth.
  • In a lightly oiled pan, over medium heat, pour the mixture in (using around 1/4 cup for each crepe)
  • Swirl the pan around to even out the mix in the pan
  • Cook for about 2 minutes or until lightly golden brown
  • Gently loosen with a spatula and flip to cook the other side
  • Serve warm!

Makes about 8 servings. 30 Minutes total cooking + prep time!
I like to serve mine with delicious strawberry jam or apricot preserves!  Nom, nom, nom!

Hope you enjoyed this recipe!

Le birthday

Yesterday was my Grandmother’s birthday!

This beautiful woman has been there my entire life through thick and thin. She inspires others with her kindness, quirkiness and creativity and no matter what will be there for you in your time of need. Everyone should have someone as wonderful as her in their lives.

Happy birthday, Grandma. Another year older, another year wiser and another year I get to cherish being with you.

Le yum-yums

Preperation:

  1. Put the package of butterscotch chips and peanut butter in a large bowl and microwave on high for 30 seconds.
  2. Stir it and then put it back in for another 30 seconds
  3. Stir until all the chips are melted.
  4. Now stir in 5 cups of Wheaties or Frosted Flakes and the optional peanuts.
  5. Spoon onto wax paper, let cool!
  6. Now enjoy!
